Leather & Care

Leather

The leather used for Erin x Lana bags is sourced from a small tannery in Tuscany, Italy, and is certified by the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium (Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale).

The hides come from Scandinavian cattle and are vegetable tanned using natural extracts from mimosa, quebracho, chestnut and oak bark. This traditional process creates a leather with a rich depth of colour that will develop a beautiful patina over time.

Once tanned, the leather is softened in large rotating drums to achieve a supple feel and develop the soft, rounded forms that define many of my designs.

Vegetable-tanned leather is a natural material, and small variations in colour, grain and markings are part of its character. These unique features ensure that no two pieces are exactly alike.

CareĀ

To keep your item looking its best, apply a leather cream occasionally to nourish and protect the surface.

Please be careful not to get oils, perfumes, water and ink on the leather, as these may cause permanent marks. Darker leathers may also transfer colour onto light-coloured clothing, particularly when new.
